4. Vetralla

5. Blera
1. Calcata
Among all my favourite village. Calcata old is really a magical place that you absolutely cannot miss. Perched on a tuff mountain it dominates the green valley of the river Treja. Entering the perfectly preserved village from a single entrance through the walls seems to take a plunge back in time. From every corner there are breathtaking views of the greenery and inside the village you will find many typical restaurants and shops selling typical products.

2. Ronciglione
Ronciglione left me speechless because of his diversity. By diversity I mean that it is not only the typical medieval village but we can divide the visit of this place in three different stages: the visit of the ancient medieval village, the walk through the Renaissance and Baroque streets and finally the visit to the industrial buildings. Moreover, it is located a stone’s throw from the Vico Lake. Among the most interesting things that happen in this village we have surely, under the Christmas period, the living nativity scene and during the carnival period, the historical carnival.

3. Caprarola
The particularity of Caprarola is certainly its road system oriented along the axis of the ancient “Via straight”, the most important street of the city, which culminates in the square in front of the dominant mass of Palazzo Farnese.(The Farnese family considers the Tuscia Viterbo as their “cradle”)

. To visit the palace the price is and the visiting hours are from 9 to 18 only on weekends.

In addition, the area is full of typical local restaurants, but if you plan to go there during the weekend make sure you book in advance, dolito is always full.

4. Vetralla
Vetralla is situated on the western side of the Monti Cimini and is just a stone’s throw from Lake Vico. Its peculiarity is the number of churches in its territory: Church of San Pietro, Church of San Francesco, Church of Sant’Angelo, Church of Santa Maria, Monastery Regina Pacis, Church of Sant’Antonio Abate, Forum Cassii. Also very interesting to visit is the Rocestrian necropolis of Norchia.

5. Blera
Blera is one of the most beautiful discoveries of this itinerary. I got there by mistake while I was looking for a restaurant to eat. Small village hidden at the gates of Vetralla offers a wonderful landscape. Rich of Etruscan settlements where you can make several excursions. Moreover, the village dominates from the top of a tuffaceous ridge the volcanic ravine where the Biedano river.

I ate a very good local truffle pasta at the restaurant “La torretta”
